Jar preparation: Using the 2" foam brush, basecoat the jar with the flat
wall paint. Allow to dry for at least eight hours, then apply a second coat
of wall paint. This will dry much faster than the first coat.
If desired, use a hair dryer to help speed up this process.
When dry, apply one or two coats more of
the flat wall paint. When this is completely dry you are ready to  transfer the
sky and snow line to jar.

Basecoat the sky in using a mixture of sapphire blue and country blue (3:1)
Basecoat the snow in with Light buttermilk.
Do not make the horizon line straight: freehand this line to create variation.

Snow maid: Base in the body with light buttermilk. Add the mittens and
apron with white wash. Basecoat the scarf, including the tassels,
with pink chiffon, allow to dry
then use the stencil brush to pounce baby pink on top of the
pink chiffon. Shade the scarf with napa red and highlight with

pink chiffon. Also add line of napa red to the sides of the scarf tassels.
Use the stylus and napa red to create the hearts on the
scarf as follows: apply two dots next to each oher and ,
while the paint is still wet, pull the small end of the stylus
through the bottom of both dots to form the tail of the heart.
Next, use the stylus to place light buttermilk dots between
the hearts. Shade the mitten cuffs with slate grey, then add
the plaid lines with the liner
and an inky consistency of antique white.

Shade around the top of the head, underneath the scarf, and around
the scarf edges with slate grey. Continue to shade the folds of the
arms, the edges of the mitten cuffs, under the scarf, under and
above  the apron waistband, at the sides of the apron and underneath
the apron. also shade the ground underneath the snow maid and
at the top of the snow line with slate grey. Highlight the outside
edges of both arms and the bottom of the snow maid's body with
white wash.  Also highlight beneath the chin at the collar line with
the same color.

Add the eyes and mouth with inky consistency lamp black.
Using the liner, place a napa red heart in the center of the mouth.
Base in the nose with antique mauve, then shade one side with
napa red. Brush mix baby pink, and antique mauve on your
palette using the stencil brush. Scrub on a paper towel to remove
most of the paint, then punce onto the cheeks. Place a white wash
dot on each cheek.Use the stylus to apply dots of hair around the
head with napa red, then add three thin lines coming from each dot
with the same color. Use the liner and Emperor's gold to line the halo.

Snowmaid's heart: Base in the heart with antique mauve, then shade
one side with napa red. Allow to dry. Use the liner to place a snowflake
in the middle fo the heart with light buttermilk, then use the large end
of the stylus to add a dot where the lines cross with the same color.

Apron patches: basecoat the top patch with lilac, shade with violet haze,
and dot with wisteria. Base the bottom patch with wisteria, shade
with deep periwinkle, and dot with lilac. Using the liner and thinned
deep midnight blue, draw stitch lines around each patch.

Lettering: Use the liner with thinned lamp black to apply the lettering
on the apron. Dot the ends of the letters with the stylus.

Broom: basecoat the handle  with honey brown, then outline with
light cinnamon. Apply the head of the broom with Emperor's gold,
then line randomly with light cinnamon. Paint the band on the
broom head with light cinnamon as well.

Place snow flakes in the sky area with white wash. With the same color,
add a dot where the lines cross using the large end of the stylus
or the end of the brush handle. Use the old toothbrush or spattering
brush to spatter the jar with white wash.

Finishing touches:
1. Allow the jar to dry thoroughly. Use the 2" foam brush to apply the
clear gloss glaze to the entire jar and let dry comopletely.

2.Fold the strip of fabric in half lengthwise and tie around the rim
of the jar. Cut ends to the desired length.

3. Place the glass flowerpot votive into the top of the jar,
then position the votive candle inside.

4. Light candle and enjoy your snow maid!
