Turpentine (for antiquing)
Black Raffia
1” or 2” foam brushes
Stencil brushes
Stylus
Old Toothbrush

Jar preparation:
Remove any labels by soaking in warm soapy dish water for about
20 minutes. Make sure bottle is dry before going on to the next step.
Spray paint the bottle with any brand light colored spray paint.
Start with light coats. Let dry in-between each coat.
Continue to spray paint until bottle is completely covered so you cannot
see through it.

Basecoat entire bottle with Camel.
Transfer pattern onto bottle.
Snowman face: base with Light Buttermilk.
Shade top and bottom of face with Light French Blue.
Nose: base with Burnt Orange. Shade top of nose with Rookwood Red. Outline top of nose with Black.
Eyes, eyebrows and mouth, paint on with Black.
Cheeks: pounce on with Gooseberry Pink. Add a dot of Light Buttermilk to center of each cheek.

Tree basecoat with Jade Green. Shade under each branch area with Antique Teal. Highlight tops of branches with Hauser Light Green.
With a stencil brush pounce Light Buttermilk on top of each branch area.
Outline entire tree with Antique Teal. Add some short lines to the tree to
represent stitching.
Paint cord going around tree with Antique Teal.
Base all stars on cord with Moon Yellow. Shade one side with Burnt Orange. Highlight other side with Light Buttermilk. Outline each star with Burnt Umber. Add an Antique Teal dot to star where the cord is coming through.
With a stylus add Moon Yellow and Country Red dots to the cord.

Hatband: base with blue Haze. Add narrow stripes with Hauser Light Green.
Float Antique Teal to each side of hatband. Add snowflakes on hat band with Light Buttermilk.

Scarf: basecoat with Country Red. (Tip: before painting the Country Red on
the bows, basecoat the bows with Hauser Medium Green.
Red is a transparent color And if you put the green on first,
you will only have to paint on a couple of coats of red.
Otherwise you will be painting on red for a very long time! :-)
Add stripes with Burnt Orange. Dots at bottom of scarf are Light Buttermilk. Add fringe with Country Red. Shade scarf with Rookwood Red at sides of neck, next to tail of scarf and to separate the two tails. Also float Rookwood Red down center crease of scarf on tail.

Float Burnt Umber around entire design.

For bottle neck:  paint the rim with Blue Haze, add  Light Hauser Green stripes (just like the hatband).  The very top of the rim is based with Moon Yellow. Float Burnt Orange at the top over the Moon Yellow.
Also paint a narrow Moon Yellow band under the Blue Haze band. Then paint a Burnt Orange band under that and add another larger Blue Haze band under the Burnt orange one. Add the Light Hauser Green stripes to the second Blue Haze band. Basecoat another Burnt Orange band under the second Blue Haze band.

Spatter entire bottle with Burnt Umber, using an old toothbrush or
spattering tool.
With a foam brush apply the Delta Perm Enamel Clear Gloss Glaze to
entire bottle. Make sure the bottle is very dry before going onto the antiquing step.

Antiquing bottle: Put a dab of the Burnt Umber oil paint onto a styrofoam meat tray, or plastic bowl- that you can throw away. Add a small amount of turpentine and mix the two until you have a soupy consistency.
Have two clean paper towels or rags next to your work area. Take one clean towel and dip it into the turpentine mixture. Wipe onto bottle. Take the other clean towel and wipe off what you just put on there. Keep repeating this process until you get your bottle to look the way you want it to. You don’t need to seal the bottle with anything
*SUGGESTION* to print directions, first copy all into your computers notpad and then print out. That way you won't
get gaps in the printing
